The Top 8 K-Pop Groups Who Debuted Via Survival Shows

Survival shows bring out the best and worst in trainees of each company. It showcases their talent, attitude, and qualities to become the next world stars. These successful groups are just some of the products of the emotional roller coaster survival shows.

STRAY KIDS

Formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2017 reality show of the same name. Stary Kids is currently composed of six members; Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N.

 

MONSTA X

The group was formed through the 2014 Mnet survival show NO.MERCY. During the program, 13 trainees from Starship Entertainment will be chosen to debut under MONSTA X. The group is currently composed of six members; Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M.

 

 

iKON

First introduced as trainees of YG Entertainment in the reality survival show WIN: Who is Next as “Team B,” the group went to another reality survival show Mix & Match which defined the final members of iKON. The group now consists of six members: Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, June, and Chan.

 

 

WINNER

The group won the show mentioned above, WIN: Who Is Next. Team A eventually became called WINNER. It consists of members Jinwoo, Seunghoon, Mino, Seungyoon, and Taehyun. Taehyun departed from the group in November 2016

 

 

ENHYPEN

The final lineup of the 2020 survival competition, I-Land by Belift Lab, is a joint venture between CJ ENM and Hybe Corporation. The group consists of Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Niki.

 

Kep1er

Formed through the Mnet survival show Girls Planet 999 managed by Swing Entertainment and Wake One Entertainment. The group is composed of nine members, Kim Chae Hyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yu Jin, Kim Da Yeon, Seo Young Eun, Kang Ye Seo, Hikaru Ezaki, Mashiro Sakamoto, and Shen Xiaoting.

 

MOMOLAND

Formed by MLD Entertainment (formerly known as Duble Kick Company) in 2016 under Mnet’s survival program, Finding Momoland. A group of seven members was selected from ten trainees. Today, MOMOLAND is now composed of six members; Ahin, Hyebin, Jane, JooE, Nancy, and Nayun.

 

 

TWICE

In 2015, JYP Entertainment and Mnet organized a survival show, “SIXTEEN.” Park Jin Young, himself, added two members to
the group’s line-up, from seven to nine in the finale. Making TWICE a nine-member group today and now hailed as one of the most successful girl groups of all time.
