Being a fan brings so much joy and excitement to our lives. We can’t deny how significant the impact they made on how we live. But some fans have gotten obsessed and have crossed the lines and Koreans call it, “sasaeng.” The term “sasaeng” comes from the Korean words “sa” meaning “private” and “saeng” meaning “life.” Here are some of the most disturbing stories of K-Celebrities who were harrassed by sasaengs.
Yunho’s Glue Drink
In 2014, TVXQ‘s Yunho shared the details of what happened after his infamous poison accident happened in 2006. He claimed that a fan approached him and gave him a drink. He took the beverage and downed it all at once. He didn’t realize the drink had a strange aroma until after he had finished it. It wasn’t long until he passed out. He recalled how someone had informed him that he had been bleeding when he had fallen.
He discovered afterward that the drink contained super glue. He claimed he couldn’t even talk to people properly since the incident. His eyes kept straying, and he believed he was developing an anxiety problem. After the incident, the K-Pop superstar considered quitting the entertainment industry. He shared how he overcame his trauma in Radio Star.
Super Junior’s Heechul
On an episode of JTBC’s “Knowing Brothers,” Super Junior’s Heechul shared his traumatizing story caused by a sasaeng fan. He was once wandering around in the dormitory wearing only his underwear with a teddy bear design on it. But soon enough, he got a text message, “Oppa, your teddy bear underwear is cute!” He added that he was living on the 12th floor of the building and it is impossible for the sasaeng fan to see him unless she lives in the opposite building. Another thing that scared him was the fact the fan knew his phone number.
TVXQ and JYJ
TVXQ and JYJ had numerous stories with these kinds of fans. TVXQ’s phone lines were once tapped and conversations were recorded. Several sasaengs kept their menstrual blood and delivered it to the JYJ members’ houses, TVXQ’s apartment was broken into and sasaeng attempted to kiss them while they were sleeping. JYJ’s Yoochun had sasaeng fans who installed spy cameras in his parking lot and took pictures of him. These encounters are just some of the infamous ones.
EXO
During the rookie days of EXO, their sasaeng fans leased a car that was identical to the group’s. The sasaeng fans parked the car where EXO was finishing one of their schedules. After finishing their schedule, the boys went to the rented van, not suspecting anything.
BIGBANG’s G-Dragon
In 2013, the BIGBANG member’s sasaeng fans camped outside his apartment, which made him tweet asking people not to hide outside his house waiting for him to appear. He said that his mother and sister were frightened about coming to his house.
2PM’s Taecyeon
The 2PM member once received one of the most disturbing letters from a sasaeng. He received a letter saying, “You can’t live without me.” Written in blood. The sasaeng fan proudly shared that she wrote it with the blood from her menstrual pad with a sprinkle of pubic hair.
