K-Drama Stars Who Were Supposed to Debut As Idols

As we all know actors and actresses in South Korea are not just with good-looking faces, with their projects under their name; talent and dedication to their craft are exhibited. But did you know that some of them were trained to dance and sing like your K-Pop idols? Here are some of the actors who almost debuted as idols.

1) Lee Jong Suk
In 2013, Lee Jong Suk shared that he trained to be part of an idol group for three months and had signed with an agency for debut but he quit after the agency broke their promise to debut him as an actor. He dreamed of being like Rain after watching the drama “Full House.”

2) Ahn Hyo Seop
He was scouted by JYP Entertainment and trained with GOT7, but did not debut with them due to his lack of skills and height. He switched to acting and appeared in shows like Still 17 and Dr. Romantic 2

3) Kim Min Jae
He trained under CJ E&M for four years as one of the first batches of trainees, focusing on rapping. He also joined the hip-hop survival show Show Me The Money 4, in 2015.

4) Yoo Ah In
In a radio interview, he revealed that he trained to be a K-pop idol first after being cast in front of his school. He then appeared in KBS2’s drama “Sharp 1,” and pursued to be an actor instead.

5)  Gong Seung Yeon
She joined SM Entertainment in 2005, winning the “Best Looks” SM Youth Best Contest. She trained at SM Entertainment for seven years, alongside f(x) and Red Velvet, but left in 2012 to pursue acting. She starred in dramas like Six Flying Dragons and Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.

6) Honey Lee

She took home the Miss Korea crown in 2006 and placed third at the 2007 Miss Universe but according to BIGBANG’s T.O.P, she used to train alongside 2NE1 members.
