First Members from Popular Girl Groups to Debut As Solo

There are moments when we wished our favorite member/s had more air time or parts in a song. It highlights more of their talent and charm whenever they are given the opportunity and that’s why their companies let them debut as solo artists! Below are the first members of the popular girl groups to debut as a solo!

1) Girls Generation – Taeyeon

Taeyeon made her debut in 2015 with the extended play, ‘I’, which sold 119,576 copies

2) TWICE – Nayeon

Almost seven years since the group debuted, Nayeon became the first member of TWICE as a solo artist with her first mini-album, ‘IM NAYEON.’ 

3) BLACKPINK – Jennie

Jennie dropped her first single as a solo artist in 2018 entitled “Solo” which ranked No.1 on Billboard’s World Digital Songs Sale chart, making her the first K-pop female solo artist ever to top the chart.

4) RED VELVET – Wendy

RED VELVET’s main vocalist, Wendy, released her first mini-album entitled “Like Water,” and has achieved a total of 30 regions No. 1s on the iTunes Top Album chart.

5) Oh My Girl – YooA

YooA becAme the first member of Oh My Girl to debut solo, after the group’s debut in 2015. She released a mini-album entitled “Bon Voyage”

6) MAMAMOO – Wheein

In 2018, Wheein debuted as a solo artist with her first single, Easy.”

7) APINK – Eunji

Eunji landed her first mini-album, “Dream”, with the title track “Hopefully Sky” in 2016. And ranked no.1 on all the major online charts achieving an all-kill status.
