Unforgettable Moments on Korean Music Shows

Music shows in Korea such as The Show, MCountdown, Inkigayo, Music Bank, Show Champion, Show Music Core, and more are platforms for our favorite artists to promote their new music. Throughout its run, it has produced moments that the industry will never forget. Here are some of the famous and infamous performances that happened in music shows. 

Red Velvet Seulgi’s Professionalism

In 2017, during their performance of “Rookie” at Music Bank, Seulgi’s voice couldn’t be heard as the mic is not working. A staff of the show brought a mic in the middle of the performance and Seulgi grabbed it as if nothing happened. Seulgi truly handled it professionally.

G-Friend’s Stage Accident 

Known for their tough choreography, G-Friend amazed fans as they went on with their performance despite the failure to do the “vaulting horse” dance for the song “Me Gustas Tu.” The girls didn’t panic and finished the song.

Wonder Girls And BIGBANG’s Collaboration Stage

Wonder Girls and BIGBANG are some of the biggest names in K-pop back in 2007, even today. When these two artists joined for one stage, it became legendary. The two groups performed the songs that truly rocked Korea in 2007, “Tell Me” and “Lies.”

Girls Generation’s Taeyeon Dissing “Music Bank”

In 2010, Girls’ Generation won the K-Chart mid-year special award and during the acceptance speech, Taeyeon disses the show saying “I hope Music Bank creates an environment for singers to do better.” Taeyeon had issues with her earpiece, causing her to go off-key during her pre-recorded special stage of Kelly Clarkson’s song. Her request to re-do the performance was rejected by the director. 

S.E.S. Banned for Blonde hair 

In 1999, SM Entertainment’s S.E.S was banned from KBS and SBS music shows for dying their hair blonde for their “Love” promotions.

Biggest Broadcast Disaster In Korean History 

In 2005, a Korean punk band, RUX, caused the cancellation of the MBC music show, Music Camp. During the band’s performance, their invited guests started undressing live on camera showing their genitalia. The band’s main vocalist Won Jong Hee and his two guests were arrested by the police for indecency. Music Camp was halted by the Korean Broadcasting Commission which laid down heavy measures.
